This proves that being a mom is busy work! I haven't updated this since my last baby shower and now my little peanut is 6 months old! To be honest, It may have slipped my mind that I even had one of these GASP!! I was reminded when reading a highschool friends blog on their baby to be! Congratualtions to Jessica and Jordan by the way! It was easier to post updates and pictures on facebook. I'm going to try my hardest to keep up with this has well as catch up on the past 6 months because it'll be something my sweet baby boy can look at, and hopefully appreciate one day!! So here we go......
October 22, 2009. Thursday! I had been feeling funny all day, not bad funny- I just knew something was different. Later that afternoon I noticed some contractions, although they weren't painful they were so close together I couldn't tell when they were starting and stopping. I was only a little over 37 weeks, I knew it was possible he could come early but at the same time it worried me a little. So, off to Labor & Delievery I went to be monitored. Sure enough they told me it was practice labor and sent me on my way after a few hours of being checked out.
October 23, 2009. Friday! I'm guessing I didn't need too much practice because less than 10 hours later I was back at the hospital after my water breaking at home! This was definitley the REAL THING! I returned to the hospital, was admited, and was hooked up to the heart and contraction monitors as well as an antibiotic IV due to test positive for group-b strep! I knew it was going to be along day but exactly how long of a day... I had no idea! I was thinking alright water broke around 7am I should be holding my baby boy by lunch time easy! WRONG! After lunch time came and gone I thought alright maybe 4 or 5...Wrong! So, once again i'm thinking okay he'll be here after dinner...well dinner came and went just as lunch and the afternoon had! They tried everything including giving me pitocin to try and help it along nothing was working! Around 9:30pm the doctor came in (side note: benton decided to make his apperance while my doctor was on vaction) and checked, said I was dilated to 5cm. WAHOO! I was excited, half way there. WRONG! My bubble was busted very quickly! Keep in mind this was my 1st child there fore I didn't know you they prefered you not to be in labor that long. After 14hours of labor and no baby they decided to go with a c-section! I was TERRIFIED! I had never had surgery or even an IV for that matter until that day! I have never been so scared in my life! My cousin Jennifer (Jenny) was in there with me when he was born! She's been with me through everything! She's my sister and I love her more than anything! I couldn't think of anyone else i'd rather had been in there with me- other than the obvious, but we won't get into that! :) 10:19pm Benton McClaren Blackwell was born weighing 7lbs and 6oz 20 inches long. He was absolutely beautiful! That's the story of his birth! I'll update the rest when I can! :)
